Articular Cartilage Lesions

Articular cartilage lesions are a common pathology of the joint, resulting mainly from sports and home or workplace injuries. Those injuries impact patients of diverse ages and may lead to pain, loss of function, and long-term complications such as post traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOH).

Electrical Stimulations are known to enhance chondrocyte proliferation, direct Mesenchymal Stem Cell differentiation to chondrocytes and alleviate musculoskeletal pain. Regenesis is using this knowledge for in situ treatment, developing a porous, biocompatible, soft, and flexible electronic mESh implant that is inserted via minimally invasive techniques and will interface with cartilage lesions to stimulate innate repair mechanisms, rebuild the damaged cartilage tissue and reduce pain.
